Year 2000 Compliance
This statement is being designated a
"Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure"
under the Year 2000 Information and Disclosure Act.
Our older systems (prior to 1994) which use the 8085 CPU card (ITM03535, TZD-728085, 162-103111) do not have a clock/calendar circuit and thus do not use the time or date in any way. These systems are Year 2000 compliant by default. A small number of these older systems used an add-in clock/calendar board from Enlode Corporation (P/N 200-1) which is not compliant. These older systems are considered obsolete and will not be made compliant.
For systems which use our newer CPU with the 80C186EB processor (ITM05455), we know that the hardware clock/calendar chip is not compliant because it stores the year in a two digit field. These systems must be made compliant using software techniques.
We have completed the Year 2000 software review program for our standard product models. . Test results indicate that, in most products, the software does not correctly compensate for the millennium transition in some minor rarely-used features. In no case does the millennium transition cause the system to crash, lockup or stop functioning in any way. At worst, a system will print an incorrect message if an effected feature is used. If a system does not use one of these features, then it will not be effected in any way by the millennium transition. A list of products and their compliance levels follow. Custom software developed from these standard packages will be evaluated on an as-needed basis.
We have completed the program to fix all Y2K compliance problems in our standard software packages.
Any products we shipped prior to October 1, 1998 will be upgraded free of charge within the 1 year warranty period if the product is deemed to be out of compliance. Any upgrade will consist of a software only change to compensate for the Year 2000 problem. Hardware upgrades will not be available or offered.

The InfoSight printers that are designated as not Y2K compliant primarily
have a problem with a feature called the %W Flag.
There is a minor feature, probably not used in most applications, which does not work correctly after the century change.
The feature is invoked by placing the flag, %W, in the message to be
printed.
When used, this flag inserts the day of the week as a single digit 1 – 7 (1 = Sunday,
2 = Monday, etc.).
After the century change, this feature will no longer print the proper digit.
This problem will not prevent the system from functioning in
any other way.
Again, most systems are probably not even using this feature so it will have no
impact on your operations.
If you must have this problem fixed, we provide the fix free-of-charge if
the printer is within its one-year warranty period.
If the printer is out of warranty, we will be happy to upgrade it for $250 per machine.

|
| The marking system is capable of printing a parameter
report to an external report printer. This provides a
hard-copy document showing the various configuration parameters for the
system.
Some software versions will print an incorrect date at the top of each page of the report after the century change. This
error is cosmetic only and does not effect the operation of the marking
system in any way.
If you must have this problem fixed, we provide the fix free-of-charge if
the printer is within its one-year warranty period.
If the printer is out of warranty, we will be happy to upgrade it for $250 per machine.
