| Stud Welding requires one (or optionally
two) pre-manufactured holes to be present in the tag.
First, a stud is placed into a collet on the welding
wand face plate, using a simple hand tool. The tag is then placed
over the magnetic face plate, aligning the tag hole with the stud shank.
The wand attachment is pressed against the metal
product to be labeled, and the finger trigger is squeezed.
Operation of the welding equipment is completely automatic and very fast
(less than one second.) The stud is fused to the base material of
the product, securely capturing the tag by the larger head of the stud.
Size of the weld "puddle" is controllable
through simple operator adjustments. Depending on customer
preference, tags can be attached so that they spin freely around the
stud, or so that they are fused directly to the base metal in addition
to being held by the stud. In either case, the tag is
securely held.
For larger tags, dual-stud wand attachments are
available permitting automatic welding with two studs in a single
operation. |
