FAQ: Common to Most Products
If you are unable to find an answer to your question, please contact our sales or service
departments.
Q: How do I measure the 5 volt power supply in my system?
A: First locate the power supply mounted on the left side of the electronics card cage. The supply has two white connectors on it.
One connector has three wires: black, white and green where the incoming
120/240 VAC is supplied. The second connector has either two
or four wires coming from it. Locate the red and black wires
on this connector and place a digital voltmeter across these wires.
The positive lead of the DVM must be connected to the red wire, and the
negative lead to the black wire. It may be easier to touch
the DVM leads to the pads on the back of the power supply circuit board.
The voltage measured at this location must be in the range 4.90 to 5.10
VDC. If the reading you obtain is outside this range, you must
adjust the power supply voltage.

Q: How do I adjust the 5 volt power supply if it is out of range?
A: You can adjust the 5 volt power supply using the following procedure. The power supply should only be adjusted while measuring the voltage with
a digital volt meter. With the DVM connected, locate the small
potentiometer on the circuit board of the power supply. With
a small jeweler's screwdriver, slowly turn the pot until the voltage is
in the proper range of 4.90 to 5.10 VDC. It is recommended
that the voltage be adjusted as close to 5.00 VDC as possible.
Note that if you turn the voltage up beyond 5.25 VDC, the circuit boards
in the card cage may be damaged and your warranty will be voided.

Q: The operator interface display is blank after I turn the system
on. What might cause this?
A: First, make sure that the terminal is powered on. Next, check the cable connecting the terminal to the electronics to be sure it
is plugged in properly and that there are no broken wires. Check
the setup parameters in the terminal by pressing the F3 key immediately
after turning the terminal on. The communications parameters
must be set to 19200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.
Make sure the terminal emulation is set to VT220.
Finally, check the voltage level of the 5 Volt power supply. If none of these steps correct the problem, check the tech
support page for details on contacting our service department.

Q: I have forgotten my supervisor password. Is there
any way to get into the system??
A: All InfoSight marking systems shipped after October 1997 have a feature called PassCode which allows you to obtain a temporary password
in case you forget yours. To obtain your temporary password,
use the operator's terminal to select the General Menu, About item.
The About screen will show a field called PassCode with a random string
of characters next to it. Copy these characters exactly as
shown and then contact the service department
by telephone. After you give the PassCode to an InfoSight service
engineer, you will be given a temporary password which will allow you to
get into supervisor mode and change the password to something you can remember.
This temporary password will only be valid until the end of the hour in
which you obtained the PassCode, so we recommend that you get the PassCode
shortly after the beginning of the hour to allow plenty of time to contact
the factory. Note that every time you activate the About screen,
the PassCode will be different.
If you have an older machine that does not have the PassCode feature, you must contact the service department for assistance.

Q: Where can I obtain a list of spare parts for my system?
A: A spare parts list is usually supplied with the documentation for your system. Please check your Operation and Maintenance Manual
for this list. If you are unable to find the spare parts list
in your documentation, please contact the sales
department.
